Parent Volunteer Position Descriptions
Swim Meet Positions:
- Concessions: Set-up, take-down, and work concession sales during home meets.
- Hospitality: Distributes water to timers, officials, and coaches during meets.
- Referee/ Starter /Officials: Follow Tri-County League rules to officiate swim meets. Minimum of 4 parents and 2 officers must attend a certification meeting. Training is required and will be provided.
- Timers: Uses stopwatch to time races and write down swimmer times.
- Heat Winner Ribbons: Hand out heat winner ribbons to swimmers who win their heat. Only give out ribbons to 10 & under.
- Back Up Timer: Serves as a backup timer for any lane timer who notices their watch did not start correctly at beginning of race
- Event Counter: Manage the digital event counter to communicate event to the swimmers, families and volunteers.
- Scorers/Data Managers: Enter event times, print results and ribbon stickers during meets. Update software with meet data.
- Runners: Distributes and collects lane and/or disqualification slips between races and delivers them to scorers table.
- Ribbons: Works with scorers to prepare ribbons for winners and participants.
- Set Up/Clean Up: Assist in meet set up and clean up. Consists of moving chairs, taking out trash and putting away equipment in the team closet.
- Floater: Person will help fill jobs where we had a "no show" or additional unplanned need.
Outside of the Meet Positions:
- Fun Fridays Coordinator (4 pts): Organizes Friday morning celebrations after meets. Make sure for every practice there are enough donuts and juice in the sign up online.
- 4th of July Parade Coordinator (2 pts) Lead the decorating of the float, manage the group, sign up for the parade.
- Ribbon Coordinator (2 pts) At the beginning of the season, check the number of ribbons against the spreadsheet, order ribbons, pick them up and deliver them. Monitor throughout the season. At the beginning of the season, update the file folders with the new family names and take out those who left.
- Swim Caps Distributor (2 pts) Hand out the items ordered, be the “go to person” for caps when a swimmer needs them and handle the money. This would be a job for someone who is able to hand out the suits at practice in the morning.
- Record Board Monitor (2 pts) This volunteer would review each meet's results and check for records being broken. Manage alerting the swimmers and note the record. At the end of the year, update the board with the final times.
- Awards/Certificates for Banquet (2 pts) Coordinate all awards/certificates and have them ready for the banquet.
- Spirit Wear Coordinator (4 pts): Leads team shirt and spirit wear design, ordering and distribution to swimmers and families.
